New Jewish Youth Group

February 2010 Update

Daniel would like to hear from Jewish young people in the local area, interested of creating a new Jewish Youth group.
The action to be taken NOW is to please download the flyer to submit your choice of group to Daniel. Please submit your completed form by printing, scanning and then emailing Daniel at youth.group@lutonhebrew.co.uk. Otherwise please send the completed form to Youth Group at the address below.

Daniel, 20, is looking for young Jewish persons in the Community or in Luton and Bedfordshire to support a new Jewish Youth Group for Luton Hebrew Congregation.

The aims of new Jewish Youth Group is to bring young people together, to socialise, to do activities, to learn something new and to make friends. The group would meet regularly.

Luton Hebrew Congregation has opened its doors to a new Synagogue building, which will be the venue for the new Jewish Youth Group.

Daniel has contacted four Jewish Youth Groups to find out if they would like to set up their groups in Luton. All the groups have expressed interest in starting the groups in Luton. Details about them are below:-.

Tribe has four age related divisions, each carrying out activities for their particular age group.

(1) Tribe Kids for toddlers to 11 year olds.

(2) Tribe Teens for 11 to 18 year olds.

(3) Tribe Campus for 18 to 21 year olds.

(4) Tribe Community for singles aged 21 to 30.

A Tribe division or two or even all four can be held in Luton. Membership for Tribe Kids, Teens and Campus is free, and for the Community group is £5 per month. To start a Tribe ‘Division’ in Luton, Luton Hebrew Congregation will need to be affiliated with United Synagogue.

BBYO is a peer led, Zionist and pluralist youth movement. It is open to all Jewish young people between the ages of 13 to 18 wishing to take part in different activities.

They have five main ideologies; pluralism, peer leadership, activism, Judaism and Zionism. To start a group, in Luton, Daniel is looking for leaders aged 16 to 18 year old, who have also an opportunity of being part of the National Executive, as well as people interested who are 13 to 18 years old. We can start straight away, but we would need to know who would like to attend such a group.

BBYO is happy to start a Youth Group in Luton (called Chapters) very shortly, and all we require is YOU. On 19th to 21st February 2010 for New Member's Weekend at Mill Hill, London, email Daniel NOW to join.

Habonim Dror is a Socialist Zionist Culturally Jewish youth movement and has been running for 75 years. Regular Sunday meetings are been held in Glasgow, Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool, Oxford and London. Habonim Dror is catered for the ages 10 to 16 year olds. To start such a group in Luton, Daniel is looking for 15 and 16 year olds to be leaders of the Youth Group in Luton, as well as, 10 to 16 year olds wanting to be part of Habonim Dror. We can start straight away, but we would need to know who would like to attend such a group.

JLGB (Jewish Lads and Girls Brigade) is in discussion with Daniel about arrangements we can have in Luton Hebrew Congregation's new Synagogue building permanently.
